Torri Le is a Chinese artist known for his richly textured painting on burnt edged paper. Torri trained in Western painting but was interested in traditional Chinese Gongbi painting. He twists the materials and processes employed in the traditional practice, abstracting his content and expanding his substrate.
He seeks for raw, simplified aesthetic, while retaining a certain naturalness through his earthy tones and organic forms. His works are small, bitty and seemingly trivial; the blurred, faded image looks as if it has been weathered for thousands of years.
