Liu Bolun 刘波伦

Artist

Liu Bolun (刘波伦) doesn’t use brush, instead he uses his fingers to directly apply colour pigment onto the canvas. He feels more emotionally connected to the subject when eliminating the brush.

His method, and the act of lingering back and forth on the surface is sensual and soulful. His paint is thick but the passages were flat, allowing forms to coalesce from streaks of pure colour. He was born in 1973, Hunan, he now lives and works in Shanghai.
