A beautiful Chinese Ink on Paper work originally suffering from the classic discolouration and brown spots in various places. We were engaged to restore the painting to its original condition. You can find before and after images below for reference.
From a distance its evident that the painting itself has seen general discolouration shifting from what would have been a bright, natural white tone to a darker cream tone.
When viewing from close you are more easily able to identify the many brown mould spots that have sprung up across the surface. These brown mould spots are evident also in the silk backing and would only continue to spread and enlarge if left untreated.
After restoration you can see how the paper itself has came back towards its natural white tone. We also remove the work from its old silk backing and gave it a new mounting.
in the close-ups in particular you can see how the brown mould spots and general discolouration has completely vanished from the work. Some tonal differences and shadows may be evident but these are purely from the photographing itself.
