Huge Chinese Ink Painting

Removal, mould treatment and reinstallation of an enormous 70kg-plus Chinese ink on paper painting from a Singapore landed property, with a new fabric backing added to the original frame.

Material
Chinese ink on paper
Location
Singapore

This particular Chinese Ink on paper painting was suffering from the typical deterioration including mould spots and general discolouration. The work is enormous and was pride of place in a beautiful landed property in Singapore.

The client had spent 5-figures on professional conservation framing, but this had failed to adequately protect the work from suffering issues. The restoration was considerably less expensive and produced fantastic results.

Given the large size of the work it weighed over 70KG in total. We handled all of the following services:

• Removal from the clients premises, including 3 flights of tight stairs. • Removal of the original artwork from the frame. • Restoration of the artwork to remove mould spots and generally clean. • Re-installation of the work into the original frame. We also added a new fabric backing as the original had also become dirty and musty smelling. • Delivery and reinstallation of the work at the clients home.

Here are some before images and some after images are available at the end of the article. If you have a Chinese Ink on paper artwork suffering from mould and other issues, please get in touch for a quote.
