This particular job was for a condominium MCST who had arranged with their residents to repair and re-paint a sculpture near the exit gate. The existing steel sculpture was in a very bad state of repair with considerable paint loss and flaking present across the entire sculpture. Partly this is just a factor of the environment in Singapore, but also due to poor quality paint used when the sculpture was originally painted.
Being present next to a wall of plants had also ensured a lot of moisture and mould had grown on the rear of the sculpture from a mixture of rain water dropping from the plants and the staff watering the area.
We completely stripped the sculpture of the original paintwork and then repainted the sculpture per exact colour specifications using a high quality outdoor, weatherproof paint mixture. Finally, additional steps were taken to provide added layers of protection over the paintwork to extend the lifespan. Given the location within a condominium we also took actions to mitigate noise and disturbance to the residents. For example, the old paint was stripped without using any loud tools.
Below is a few shots to outline the original state of the sculpture prior to repair and painting along with an image of the final work. The MCST and the residents were extremely pleased with the quality of our work and the final results.
