Sir Stamford Raffles

Unveiled in 1972 this Polymarble statue located along Boat Quay at the bank of the Singapore River is believed to mark the location of Sir Stamford Raffles landing site in 1819. This particular sculpture is a replica of the original bronze sculpture located outside the Victoria Concert Hall.

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to provide restoration services to resolve cracking and rusting on the rear of the sculpture that was causing a rusty brown stain to form down the rear of the jacket and onto the leg and base. Due to the height and location of the work we leveraged scaffolding to easily access the damaged areas.

After repairing the cracks we repainted the area with a specially formulated outdoor paint to provide a consistent outlook with the rest of the sculpture.
