We recently returned from another Affordable Art Fair, this time the Hong Kong edition held at the main convention centre from 16th - 19th May. We'd just like to take the opportunity to provide a short write up of the event and also express our thanks to new clients who purchased works from us during the fair. We might be slightly biased, but we think you made a wonderful decision.
In general the feeling from our side and other exhibitors was that 2024 was a bit slower than 2023. That being said, there was certainly plenty of artwork sold during the fair and on a personal level we ended with lots of sold works.
For this fair we focused on 3 artists:
This is the second time we have exhibited Jiang Zhaojin in Hong Kong, and she once again received the bulk of attention throughout the fair. What was interesting for us this year is that clients were generally more interested in buying much bigger works than in 2023. We primarily sold the circular works ranging from 88 - 116cm in circumference.
One of many works sold in Hong Kong was Viridian Valley Eight Cranes.
We were also excited to introduce a relatively new artist to Asian Art Platform, Liu Peng. A Chinese painter, Liu gets inspiration mainly from his travels and people that he meets. What we particularly like in Liu's works is his usage of colour and texture.
It was very pleasing to see the level of interest and appreciation in Liu Peng's work and we were delighted to sell 5 unique pieces during the fair. We are looking forward to bringing in new works from Liu Peng in the future. Its likely we'll have a new series of work from him in time for Affordable Art Fair, Singapore in November.
One of our favourite works by Liu Peng, "Lakeside" was sold to a very nice gentleman.
There was lots of interest as usual in Nidal Khaddour. We sold a number of his bold cityscape acrylic on canvas works in Hong Kong continuing on from an excellent 2023 for Nidal. We look forward to showcasing more of Nidals work in November.
Finally, a sincere thank you to the Affordable Art Fair team who make the fairs possible. As usual it was well organised and efficiently run. To the DSV team who help with all the logistics from Singapore to Hong Kong [and back], and also support the fair with packing.....you guys are amazing. Thank you!
