Art Jakarta will take place from 17th to 19th November at JIExpo Kemayoran. Asian Art Platform will be located at Booth C1 highlighting Chinese Perspectives; an exhibition featuring perspectives from sculptor Zhao Kai and eco-warrior Jiang Wanlin.

Asian Art Platform is excited to introduce to Indonesia for the first time, the works of Chinese artists Zhao Kai and Jiang Wanlin. Zhao Kai is a traditional realism sculptor whose works can be found in prestigious public and private collections both locally and internationally. His inspirations draw from the balance of life, showcasing how humans and animals are both indispensable components in the shared ecosystem, the balancing acts between the two subjects, or the playful innocence of the animals. They are sculpted in bronze and painted enamel to create a tactile fascination yet a sense of peace with its fine and smooth form.

Jiang Wanlin is our best-selling artist who breaks boundaries with her upcycled denim paintings. Jiang reinterprets Shanshui, the traditional Chinese landscape painting with the modernity of sustainable denim. She upcycles used denim to create intricate details in her landscape paintings while raising social awareness on sustainability. The innovative artist is constantly exploring creative ways to utilize the durability of denim in her works, marrying tradition with modern and juxtaposing the durable material with the soft, dreamy landscapes. Jiang has worked alongside brands like Nike, Levis, Adidas and New Balance.
