Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Asian Art Platform will be located at Booth G02 with an exhibition featuring works from talented Chinese artists Jiang Wanlin and Zhao Kai and North-American artist Heather Goodwind.
Asian Art Platform is excited to showcase works from eco-warrior Jiang Wanlin. Jiang reinterprets Shanshui, the traditional Chinese landscape painting with the modernity of sustainable denim. She upcycles used denim to create intricate details in her landscape paintings while raising social awareness on sustainability. The innovative artist is constantly exploring creative ways to utilize the durability of denim in her works, marrying tradition with modern and juxtaposing the durable material with the soft, dreamy landscapes. Jiang has worked alongside brands like Nike, Levis, Adidas and New Balance.
Zhao Kai is a traditional realism sculptor whose works can be found in prestigious public and private collections both locally and internationally. His inspirations draw from the balance of life, showcasing how humans and animals are both indispensable components in the shared ecosystem, the balancing acts between the two subjects, or the playful innocence of the animals. They are sculpted in bronze and painted enamel to create a tactile fascination yet a sense of peace with its fine and smooth form.
Heather Goodwind is a North-American visual artist who spent years in China learning the language and traditional ink calligraphy. Her works are inspired from the fleeting intensity of nature, memories and emotions. Goodwind has a vast portfolio of ink on paper and Moleskine works, with recent years seeing her using her background in martial arts and dance to produce large-format brushwork on canvas.
